Great Victory Academy had the privilege of being thoroughly trained on the Core Skills, Objectives and New Pedagogical approaches to facilitate learning in the classroom and outside in the revised curriculum.
A team of seven Facilitators lead by Mr. Alou Timothy, Assistant Director in charge of Monitoring and Supervision with the Ghana Education Service, Bolgatanga Municipal Directorate, took facilitators(teachers) through the entire curriculum, from Tuesday, August 27 to Friday, August 30, 2019.
The training highlighted the forms of assessment now approved for measuring students learning outcome such as Assessment For, As and Of Learning. The need to focus on developing the four Rs(Reading, wRiting, aRithmetic and cReativity) was stressed.
The training also identified such Core SKILLS as Listening, Reading as well as Core competencies needed to accelerate Ghana’s economic progress as Critical Thinking and Problem Solving; Creativity and Innovations; Cultural Identity and Global Citizenship; Personal Development and leadership Leadership and Digital literacy.
Looking at the entire curriculum, it reveals a shift in content structure, pedagogy and assessment process. New terms such as Strands, Sub-strands, Content Standards, Indicators and Exemplars, replaced the conventional topic, subtopic, objectives, et cetera.
